Weekly Newsletter - January 18, 2012

Science Experiments: We will start our Wednesday science experiments in a couple of weeks. Each week, the assigned student will be able to bring an experiment to school and demonstrate it to the class. You can find easy experiments on the internet. An example is Dancing Raisins - where the child would bring 7-up, raisins and a clear cup. They could then show the class how the raisins sink at first and then float to the top due to the carbonation. If you need help finding an experiment, just let me know.

Reading: We’ve been reading and writing contractions. It’s amazing how many contractions the kids are finding when they read.
Writing: This week we have been writing non-fiction reports about animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctic. We have also been using the computers to type our reports. Most of us have printed our reports and are busy illustrating them. The finished product will be displayed in the hallway outside our classroom.

Other  News:
We will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Our goal is for each student to bring 100 pop tabs. Please send your tabs to school before January 25th, which will be the 100th Day of School.
